Matchmaker

I seem to be getting a wave of women asking me to hook them up with [livejournal.com profile] spirochete lately. Here's a hint gals: although it is ski season, there isn't any snow yet. So he's around. And he's not well known for being a man who kisses the girls and makes them cry. You have a pretty good chance without my help.

Okay, it's not really a wave. It's more like two or three. And Lance, you do have to find out who they are on your own!

Popularity

  • tater says — jeez, you were right
  • tater says — you ARE popular!
  • King Rat says — make a lot of pie and you become popular
  • tater says — I never thought of that
  • tater says — should have done that in grade school
  • King Rat says — i'm buying my popularity
  • tater says — who doesn't?

Quote of the Day

DiIulio's father taught him to apologize on your knees, or not at all. In other words, whether completely culpable or not, and whether there are complicated mitigating if not exonerating motivations and circumstances or not, you do not express honest, heartfelt remorse for wrong by quibbling over how the wronged person or persons characterize it.

Tax Alternatives for Washington State

About a week ago, there were a bunch of news reports about a state panel proposing to scrap the sales tax in favor of an income tax. Of course, 95% of Washingtonians won't actually read the study. Anyway, here it is: Tax Alternatives for Washington State: A Report to the Legislature. This is their preliminary report. I'm gonna do an editorial on it once I finish reading it. Anyway, I suggest reading it. The writing is very readable. Kind of like A Brief History of Time for Washington state tax policy.
