Kameron Hurley does a much better job at explaining the things I felt uncomfortable with in Cabin In The Woods.

Joss Whedon made that movie?! I haven't seen it, but that review almost makes me want to cry. Whatever happened to that once-feminist?

He was one of the screenwriters and producers. He didn't direct it.

I know many feminists think of Whedon as a faux feminist. I'm not qualified to pass judgment on his cred, as the only stuff of his I've watched has been Firefly and now Avengers and Cabin In The Woods. I haven't seen a single episode of Buffy or Dollhouse.

Buffy is fantastic! It is truly feminist and iconic. Dollhouse was awful. Firefly was fine and still feminist except for a few dodgy incidents (only men get to sleep with the female prostitutes, the prostitute gets killed the morning after she is shown to have sex, men perving over lezzzzbian sex etc.)
