I just finished scanning and filing my bills and correspondence and statements and whatnot from December and January.
I note this because I have historically been very bad at keeping up with this sort of thing, to my detriment. At times, I've had half-decade old unopened mail and years-old paperwork that needed to be handled (not just filed). It's an anxiety thing. I can't deal with it, so it got stuck in a box, thinking I'd be able to deal with it the next week. But then the amount of stuff in the box and the length of time it had been in there made it even harder to deal with.
This is why I have had to deal with the IRS twice and the State of Idaho once.
I've been better in the last few years, but stuff still piled up.
Since moving to mostly paperless storage last year, 2 months is about the longest I've gone without filing. And I've had nothing older than a couple of weeks that needed to be dealt with. Only one bill has been paid late, and that's just because I forgot to enter it into my bill pay.
It's only been one year, so I don't want to declare victory. But I am feeling celebratory at finding a method to deal with one of my neuroses.
