I'm still amazed that Seattle voted to repeal the car registration fees/taxes. I mean those were based on the value of our cars, which means rich people (who owned really expensive cars) paid more than poor folk. That's the fairest kind of tax I can think of. And now THIS? If people don't like the gas tax, why don't they just drive less? It's as if they want the luxury of being able to drive without the responsibility of paying for the roads they drive on.
