What is it with me and broken water pipes?

I got water coming in. I mean, really coming in hard. Ceiling in my closet is gonna be ruined. A few magazines are trashed. May have to replace a wall and my ceiling in both the closet and bedroom.

The building's plumber won't arrive for a couple of hours. And the building manager hasn't been able to find the shut off valve for that pipe. If we can find it, we'll shut off water for the entire building.

Isn't part of the building manager's job to know where all of the appropriate shut off valves/switches for the various utilities?

I would not be amused.

And they would be paying for every bit of damaged caused by every minute the manager couldn't figure out how to shut off the water.

Theoretically. The previous building manager lost most of that. He's done a pretty good job of getting everything in order, but some things aren't there yet. We couldn't even tell which pipe it was. We removed the sheet rock to find the leak and there's about 6 pipes going all sorts of directions up there. Water's stopped for now. Plumber might come by tomorrow.

Nope. But I may just use it as an excuse to knock out the wall between my bedroom and the closet, and make a much bigger room.
