Barnes and Noble

I applied at Barnes and Noble today. I had a short 10 minute interview with the store manager. She seemed inclined to hire me if none of my previous employers report me as an axe murderer.

I haven't worked a minimum wage job since… summer of 1994. I think minimum wage was $5.15 then.

wow $5.15?!

last time i got minimum wage... it was $4.25 0_o

I'm not sure exactly. Washington has usually had a higher minimum wage than federal.

My first job started at $2.15 per hour (and most employers took out a tip credit from that). Idaho has generally been a place that stiffed employees.

Did you have to assure her repeatedly that you actually want the job, despite being severely over-qualified?

I imagine they'd get a pretty amusing look on their face after seeing some of your work history.

I used to be a manager at the Lynnwood store, and worked all kinds of positions (whoa!) at the U-Village store.
We had people with their PhDs & whatnot.
I had so much fun working there.
You'll be just in time for the holidays, too! Good times.

I'll only work at the U-District or Downtown stores. It's not worth the time to commute anywhere else. I figure it will be a lot of fun as long as I am not depending on the money.

I wouldn't have done Flower Delivery person in between contracts if I needed the dough.
