Folks, URLs use forward-slashes, not back-slashes. Seems like most people say backslash when repeating a URL verbally. I want to strangle them.

(Just practicing up to be a curmudgeon…)

No, that's annoying.

You wanna know what bothers me? When people say "I could care less." Oh, really? Then please go ahead an do so. I, on the other hand, couldn't care less.

Personally, I blame Microsoft. MS DOS in particular.

Unix has the slashes going the right way...

But MS slashes all go back, thus training people to think in backslashes, which are MS specific, rather than forwards slashes, which are Unix and Http standards.

So, according to the Http standard, MS is backwards. To perpetuate this left-leaning brainwashing, MS IE accepts backslashes in URLs, even though they get mapped to forward slashes. Which is my hypothesis on why many people will say that URLs have backslashes, without even realizing that they are referring to yet another MS violation of accepted standards.

I could care less about back-slashes.
